WINDA is the Global Wind Organisation's official database of GWO training records. When a technician completes a GWO course with a certified training provider, the record is uploaded to WINDA against the technician's WINDA ID, and employers can check it there. CertCase does not replace WINDA. CertCase is where technicians and employers manage, plan and act on certification across a whole workforce and its projects — including GWO records and everything outside GWO.
Used together, WINDA confirms that GWO training took place, and CertCase answers the planning question: is this person ready for this role, on this project, on these dates?
What WINDA does well
WINDA is the source of truth for GWO training. It is run by GWO, it is used across the wind industry, and it gives employers a trusted way to confirm that a technician's GWO training was delivered by a certified provider. For GWO modules, it is the record to rely on. Employers can view a technician's valid GWO training records in WINDA using their WINDA ID.
What sits outside WINDA
A wind turbine technician's deployment depends on more than GWO training. Projects also ask for medicals, electrical authorisations such as an Authorised Person for HV work, OEM-specific training, client inductions and other national or site requirements. Employers also need to plan: who is available, who is expiring before the project ends, and which subcontractor technicians meet the client's training matrix.
Those are the jobs CertCase is built for.
How CertCase complements WINDA
In CertCase, each technician keeps a free profile with all their certificates — GWO and non-GWO — and their expiry dates, experience and availability. They choose which employers can see it, and they can stop sharing at any time.
- One record for all wind tickets: GWO BST and BTT modules alongside medicals, HV authorisations and other certificates.
- Expiry reminders for the technician 90, 30 and 7 days before expiry and on the day.
- Verification status on every certificate, so "uploaded" is never confused with "checked".
- Role and project readiness for employers, onshore and offshore, with the exact reasons someone is not ready.
- Training needs lists that turn upcoming GWO refreshers and gaps into requests to training providers.
A practical way to use both
Use WINDA to confirm GWO training. Use CertCase to hold the full picture for each technician and to plan deployments. When a GWO certificate is verified in CertCase, a CertCase reviewer checks the uploaded certificate file and confirms its details before it counts. CertCase does not currently connect to WINDA automatically.
For technicians, the result is less paperwork: one profile to share instead of sending certificate copies to every new employer. For employers, it is a faster, clearer answer about who can go to site.
Frequently asked questions
Does CertCase replace WINDA?
No. WINDA is the official GWO training record. CertCase is a planning and management tool that holds GWO and non-GWO certificates together and shows deployment readiness.
Does CertCase connect to WINDA automatically?
Not at the moment. Technicians add their certificates to CertCase themselves, and certificates are verified before they count.
Do I still need a WINDA ID?
Yes. GWO training records are held in WINDA against your WINDA ID. CertCase does not change that.
Which certificates can I keep in CertCase besides GWO?
Medicals, electrical authorisations, BTT modules and other wind-sector certificates, each with its expiry date and verification status.
